Suspicious Mind
Some mornings ago, this song kept ringing in my head, ‘Suspicious Mind,’ sung by Elvis.
The words, “We can’t go on together with suspicious minds, we can’t build our dreams on suspicious minds,’ kept repeating as if a message needed to be learned. About two days in, I began to question the lyrics that kept repeating in my head.
This is what I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Your mind can’t shift from belief to unbelief and expect God to move on your behalf. You work on a vision for a while, and you stop because it doesn’t come together right away. It’s time to ask yourself, what and who are you believing in? A wandering mind is a suspicious mind. Too many suspicious leads the mind, heart, and soul to do the same, wander off in disbelief. When living and acting suspiciously, thoughts of skepticism, being overly cautious, jealousy, distrust, and suspecting and wrongly judging others are not a way to live.”
As I continue listening, suspicious thoughts are generated from bad seeds of the past that have not been released. Most suspicions come from wounds that have not healed correctly. Living with a suspicious mind only rips a part before they can begin. Suspicious mind builds walls, not relationships; it sabotages the very good thing you are waiting for because of how you think and feel about everything. This only leads to an unhappy life.” Changing how you feel about you can change how you feel about life. However, if you choose to stay in your suspicious mindset, it would only lead you into a cave of loneliness and anger. But that’s not all, suspicious thinking forms fear, which can keep you living a defeated life.
Encouragement:
Moving forward can be an amazing experience if you are open to changing your mindset. Living a successful life begins with Jesus in your heart and trusting Him while He is renewing your mind. Trade your suspicious thoughts for trust, openness, and confidence. Give up the painful event and trust Jesus to heal every hurting place in your heart. If you ever had a dream to accomplish, trust must be in place. Trust Jesus to bring you the right people even when they don’t look as you want them to look. Be open to Jesus to heal your mind, build your mind on good things (Godly things). Confidence can be a powerful tool, especially when you are standing on truth. Your truth can be believing in your renewed mind with Jesus standing not just beside you but in you.
Be mindful of your words as past memories resurface; grant forgiveness where needed. Forgive yourself for holding on to painful events.
From Marian’s Desk with Love
Prayer:
Father, you are so awesome, and your love for us is one we cannot describe. Today, we look to you for the healing we need so that we can see ourselves as you visit us. Heal our minds so that suspicion will no longer have its rights to live here. Jesus, help us with our unbelief and renew our minds to think as you do. Holy Spirit, you are welcome to live in my heart and help me be more kind to myself and to others as my mind is transformed in the likeness of the Father. I pray and receive this prayer in Jesus’ Name.
